What is Secure Access?
Secure Access is the final phase of the upgrade to school Wi-Fi networks under the Te Mana Tūhono programme
- Ministry of Education programme to provide long-term IT support to schools.
- Three core phases in the upgrade process – Equipment Support, Equipment Replacement and Secure Access.
- The programme began in 2020 and it covers over 2,480 eligible schools and kura.
- Programme costs schools $2.50 per ākonga per year + any additional work out of scope.
The three phases of the Wi-Fi upgrade are outlined in more detail below:
Schools eligible for Secure Access will have completed the first two phases of the Wi-Fi upgrade.
1. Equipment Support
- Extended hardware support for equipment installed under W/SNUP.
- Renewal of network equipment licences and provision of warranty support until you received your new equipment.
2. Equipment Replacement
- Installation of new network equipment.
- N4L worked with you to design your school’s network, order the required equipment and install Wi-Fi 6 technology.
3. Secure Access
- Reconfiguration of wired and wireless network, supporting enhanced security.
- Assurance that every user and device accessing your network is authorised, further securing your school Wi-Fi and giving you more control.
What is Secure Access?
N4L’s Secure Access solution leverages your schools’ Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or on premises environment to provide students and staff a consistent and more secure connection to your school’s Wi-Fi.
Secure Access will not only improve security posture for schools but also provide tools to better safeguard students using network segmentation and targeted filtering.
